Birla Cellulose announced the launch of its new sustain
able fibre, Livaeco Lyocell, at its flagship event Confluence
2026 held in Coimbatore. Livaeco Lyocell reflects the company’s
focus on combining sustainability with advanced fibre technol
ogy. The fibre is produced using a closed-loop solvent spinning
process that allows up to 99.7% solvent recovery. It is made from
100% FSC-certified wood pulp, ensuring that the raw material
is sourced responsibly from well-managed forests.Designed for
both performance and sustainability, the fibre offers a combina
tion of strength, smooth texture, and effective moisture manage
ment. It is known for its high durability, good shape retention,
and soft, skin-friendly feel, making it suitable for a wide range of
textile uses.Vadiraj Kulkarni, Business Head at Birla Cellulose,
stated that Livaeco™ Lyocell marks an important step in the
company’s innovation journey. He explained that the fibre has
been developed to meet the growing demand for both sustainabil
ity and performance, and is expected to create new opportunities
across the textile value chain. The fibre is supported by Green
Track, a blockchain-based system developed by Birla Cellulose.
This platform enables complete tracking of the fibre from forest
to final product. It uses digital mapping and embedded tracer
technology to help verify the authenticity of the material at every
stage and prevent misuse or duplication.
